PTI scuppers are rated to flow between 10 and 40 gallons per minute, per linear foot. The licensed contractor should determine the proper equipment needed to achieve this recommendation.
To get an idea of the system flow requirement to generate the desired flow range, some relatively simple calculations can be used. Using the number of linear feet per scupper from the list below, multiply the linear foot by the PTI rated flow range. For multiple units, multiply the GPM by the amount of all scuppers in a pool project. See the 6” scupper example.Example for a 6″ scupper:
- Minimum flow rate:
- Multiply 0.5 feet x 10 GPM = 5GPM
- If you have 4 scuppers in the system multiply 5 GPM X 4 scuppers = 20 GPM total minimum system flow
- Maximum flow rate:
- Multiply 0.5 feet x 30 GPM = 15 GPM
- If you have 4 scuppers in the system multiply 15 GPM x 4 scuppers = 60 GPM
